Estimating Basics

(2-day program) Profit is important to every company, big and small. Estimators have an important role when it comes to profitability. In this course, students will build on their understanding of plans and specifications by completing  estimating exercises and bidding a project.

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

1. Recognize and utilize the tools and materials needed to estimate a commercial construction project.
2. Identify and interpret specification requirements in order to properly estimate doors, frames and hardware.
3. Apply discounts and mark-ups to materials.
4. Submit a qualified bid.

Automated end of class exams are delivered via DOITs Learning Management System at the end of the course, students must achieve a minimum 80% on the exam to pass the course.

Course cost includes breakfast (for hotel guests only), lunch and morning/afternoon snack each day of class.
